Proctored Testing

Local Virtual College Students

If you are a Virtual College student who lives outside the South Florida area (local students must take exams at a MDC testing Center), you must locate an approved proctor to administer your tests. The proctor must be approved by the Virtual College at least 2 weeks prior to the exam. Students
are responsible for paying any costs that may be incurred (proctor fees, etc.).

The proctor can be one of the following:

  • Testing Department/Center staff (preferred)
  • Faculty members of accredited colleges or universities
  • High school counselors or principals
  • Human resources or corporate educational training staff
  • Sylvan or Kaplan Learning Center staff
  • Military Educational Officers
  • Head or Reference Librarian of a local library

A student's classmate, co-worker, relative or friend is NOT a qualified proctor and may not proctor exams.

Examinations must be administered in an educational or professional environment such as a classroom or the proctor's office. Exams are web-based; therefore, the proctoring facility must have a computer with internet access. Any test proctored in a private residence will be deemed invalid. The Virtual College will have final approval on proctor selection.

Once you have located and contacted a proctor, you must submit the online Request for Proctor Approval form. Once your request has been submitted, the Virtual College department will verify
your proctor. You will be notified no later than a week prior to your scheduled exam period.
