The Virtual College was developed for students who, because of busy home/work schedules, family obligations, physical disabilities, or geographical constraints, are unable to attend scheduled on-campus classes.
The Virtual College at Miami Dade College offers distance learning sometimes called e-learning courses. Courses are available via the internet so that learners can “attend” class without ever coming to campus! Students are a part of a learning community where other adult learners and faculty interact and share knowledge to better help everyone in the class grow intellectually and professionally.
The Virtual College at Miami Dade College is a college-wide program housed at the Wolfson Campus. For the past several years, enrollment in online courses has been growing over 20%. Currently the Virtual College offers over 90 different courses online. During the Fall term (2007-1), over 9,000 students enrolled in over 300 classes.
The Virtual College is planning for future growth by developing additional courses online. These new courses will be offered during the 2008 academic year.
